Solar map of the EU
The larger the dot, the more electricity a solar panel produces in that city over a year. Hover over a city, or tap it, for its figures and the system that would suit a typical home there.
636 cities. Hover over a dot to see the city's figures; click or tap it to keep them open. The EU is shown lighter; borders between countries are not drawn. Land from Natural Earth.
What “best system” assumes. A household using 3,500 kWh a year, panels at €1,200 per kWp facing the best direction, batteries at €600 per kWh replaced every 10 years, the city's household electricity price rising 2% a year, and nothing paid for electricity sent to the grid. Best means the highest value in today's money over 25 years, discounted at 3%. These are the solar calculator's starting assumptions, worked out with its quick estimate; change any of them there, especially the export arrangement, and the best size changes with them.
These are estimates, not quotes. Every figure here is modelled from open data and from assumptions you can change, so none of it will match a real quote or a real bill exactly. Source data can be out of date or wrong, and so can this model. Nothing on this site is financial, legal or engineering advice, and no responsibility or liability is accepted for any decision made on the basis of these results or for any loss arising from them. Before committing money, get a written quote and check the figures against your own tariff and your own circumstances.
